WFM News
Dear Volunteers,
We have exciting news about a NEW expansion to WORLDFirst!!!
WorldFirst is forming a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the East Texas Gulf Coast Regional Trauma Council to provide for their volunteer manpower needs during disaster. This Regional Alternate Care Site (RACS), representing nine counties along the Texas Gulf Coast purchased a brand new, state-of-the-art, 5000 sf mobile hospital last year (see attached photos) and, until now have not had an avenue to staff the facility for impending disasters. This type of facility is a new concept to the disaster field and may be the only one in the State or even in the southern region. Bill met with them during the Homeland Security/Hurricane Conference last month and was invited, along with other WFM leadership, to attend their recent board meeting in Baytown to discuss the possibility of working together. WFM was warmly welcomed and enthusiastically accepted into a working relationship that will greatly benefit both organizations as we work together to alleviate suffering during disaster.
WORLDFirst not only offered our trained volunteer medical staff and support staff, but, will coordinate feeding of the staff and patients through our relationship with The Salvation Army and will provide our Special Operations division to provide safety and courier needs for the site. We also have a volunteer skilled in helicopter landings that will train crews to receive the helicopters with victims from the disaster site.
This opportunity will allow WFM to not only feed those in need but quickly attend to their emergency medical needs in a very timely manner, greatly expanding our ability to care for and minister to those affected by disaster.
This facility contains:
-
- 3 trailers each with: 16 bed shelter, portable generator, ac/heat pump, stretchers, medical supplies, bathroom with shower, hand washing stations and mobile nurse stations.
-
- 53' command center with: 4 workstations with high speed sat. internet and phone. 2 remote operated light towers, 4 flat screen tv/monitors, small kitchen, lockers, and bathroom with shower.

The facility will debut at Alvin Community College May 4, 5 and 6 and be set up completely so that the two organizations can get first hand working knowledge of the facility and its operation.
If you are available, please make every effort to attend to see this incredible operation first hand. ALL VOLUNTEERS are welcome!
This facility will be staffed by both medical volunteers and non-medical support volunteers in the field.
MEDICAL VOLUNTEERS: You will be receiving information via US mail to update your credentials and medical volunteer forms to enable you to work in this facility
May God richly bless each and every one of you as you walk with Him and for Him in 2009!
